On June 9, 2026, the Annual Meeting of the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 (TTF) was held online. Organized and coordinated by the TTF Secretariat at UNESCO, the meeting brought together nearly 200 representatives from national governments, international organizations, civil society organizations, and development partners. Professor Zhang Minxuan, Director of TEC, and Associate Professor Bian Cui attended the meeting by invitation.
The meeting served as a critical bridge between the past and the future. It reviewed the achievements and challenges of the TTF Strategic Plan 2022–2025 while also laying the groundwork for the new Strategic Plan 2026–2029, with participants jointly identifying priorities for the next biennium.
During the meeting, authorized by the Department of Teacher Education of the Ministry of Education of China, Professor Zhang Minxuan presented China’s official standings and priorities for teacher development in 2026–2027. He also introduced TEC’s key areas of future development. During the breakout session, he engaged in in-depth discussions with Asia-Pacific members on potential project collaborations.
This meeting marked China’s first participation in the TTF Annual Meeting since rejoining the organization’s Steering Committee, signifying a further enhancement of China’s engagement and voice in the global teacher agenda. It also creating new opportunities for TEC to contribute to international teacher development as the TTF Asia-Pacific Regional Hub. Looking ahead to the 2026–2029 strategic cycle, TEC will continue to uphold the principles of openness and cooperation by advancing work in teacher education, strengthening regional teacher training programmes, and supporting flagship initiatives. Working alongside global partners, TEC will contribute Chinese expertise and solutions toward the shared vision of “ensuring a qualified, motivated and empowered teacher for every learner”.
