The China Association of Higher Education recently announced the 2026 selections for the “China-Africa 100 Universities Cooperation Plan” Excellence Projects. TEC successfully secured a spot with the China-Africa STEM Educators Acceleration Program. Notably, it stands as the only selected initiative led by a normal university and exclusively dedicated to training African educators.

Launched in 2025 under the guidance of the Ministry of Education’s Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Department of Teacher Education, and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, the program has generated widespread impact and built a robust foundation for its 2026 rollout. In May 2026, TEC hosted the “China-World Bank-Africa STEM Education Cooperation Plan”, catalyzing in-depth STEM education partnerships between China and Malawi.
Scheduled for September 13 to 23 at TEC, the 2026 China-Africa STEM Educators Acceleration Program will feature a series of signature events. These include the “China-Africa Teacher Policy Dialogue Towards 2035”, the “China-Africa Teacher Professional Development Roundtable”, the “China-Africa Women STEM Teachers Development Forum”, the “Global Climate Masterclas,,” and “AI+STEM Education” sessions. This comprehensive agenda aims to operationalize the outcomes of major summits, such as the FOCAC Beijing Action Plan (2025-2027) and the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. Ultimately, it seeks to support the high-quality development of the Global Teacher Development Institute and help forge a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.
