On April 23, the China-Thailand Principals Forum, hosted by the UNESCO Teacher Education Centre (TEC), was held in the TEC Building.
Professor Ning Bo, Deputy Dean of the School of Education, and Professor Wang Jie, Deputy Director of the International Teacher Education Centre at Shanghai Normal University, together with Associate Professor Suban Porn Wiang from Chiang Mai University, delivered opening remarks respectively. The event brought together primary and secondary school principals, education supervisors, as well as faculty and student representatives from universities across China and Thailand. The forum was presided over by Associate Professor Zhu Xiaohu from the TEC.
After the welcoming ceremony, the forum officially commenced. Thai representatives shared practical experiences based on the “Chiang Mai Education Sandbox” framework, including the collaborative network partnership mechanism, the AIDER supervision model, the enhancement of teacher competency in inclusive education, the PIDRE+I supervision process, the sustainable development model of the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) system, and the CAMPS model of Chinese language teaching. Chinese representatives focused on digital transformation and AI empowerment, sharing experiences in digital reform under the “New Curriculum & New Textbooks” initiative, the “three-dimensional drive” system for AI-empowered school management, AI-assisted STEM education in primary schools, and the reconstruction of learning scenarios in the AI era, along with relevant principles for technology use. Subsequently, both sides held in-depth discussions on issues including the development of a sound educational ecosystem.
This forum showcased the latest achievements of primary and secondary education digital transformation in China and Thailand. It consolidated consensus on in-depth topics such as technological ethics, cost-effectiveness and educational equity, laying a solid foundation for both sides to deepen future cooperation in principal exchanges, teacher training and joint curriculum development. After the forum, the Thai delegation will also visit primary, secondary and higher education institutions as well as distinctive educational venues in Shanghai to further deepen their understanding of educational practices in China.
