UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education Ms. Giannini Visits the TEC for Inspection and Guidance

On the morning of September 22, 2025, Ms. Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director-General for Education of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), paid an inspection visit to the Teacher Education Centre under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO TEC) for supervision and guidance. The purpose of this visit was to gain an in-depth understanding of the work the Centre has conducted and the achievements it has attained in fulfilling UNESCO’s mission since its establishment, as well as to provide strategic guidance for its future development. Accompanied by Director Zhang Minxuan, Ms. Giannini toured UNESCO TEC’s infrastructure facilities and engaged in cordial and friendly conversations with the Centre’s staff, gaining detailed insights into the Centre’s operation.

Subsequently, Director Zhang Minxuan delivered a detailed work report to Assistant Director-General Giannini. The report provided a comprehensive review of the various activities UNESCO TEC has carried out to fulfill the mission entrusted by UNESCO in core areas such as knowledge production, capacity building, technical support, and information sharing, as well as the far-reaching impacts of these activities since the Centre’s founding. Director Zhang stated that UNESCO TEC has always been committed to translating UNESCO’s vision into concrete actions and contributing to global and regional sustainable development.

Assistant Director-General Giannini spoke highly of UNESCO TEC’s advanced infrastructure development and the effective activities it has implemented. She fully recognized the Centre’s remarkable achievements in advancing UNESCO’s SDG4c, highly commended the shared Mathematics Techbook developed by UNESCO TEC, and spoke highly of the professionalism and unremitting efforts of the Centre’s team. She encouraged UNESCO TEC to not only have aspirations but also aim to become a top Category 2 Institute.

Ms. Giannini’s inspection visit is not only a great encouragement for UNESCO TEC’s work but also points out the direction for its future development. The Centre will keep UNESCO’s mission in mind, continuously enhance its capabilities, and contribute more to the achievement of UNESCO’s global goals.
