On September 6, 2024, the China-Africa-UNESCO Dialogue on Cooperation in Education and Cultural Heritage Protection was successfully held in Beijing, China. Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. A total of 460 participants attended the event, including government officials from China and African countries, heads of universities and vocational colleges, experts, scholars, and representatives of international organizations. The Teacher Education Centre, as a Category 2 UNESCO Institute, was invited to participate.

This high-level dialogue featured two thematic dialogue sessions, focusing on educational cooperation and cultural heritage protection respectively. The Dissemination of Shanghai Mathematics in Tanzania project by the Teacher Education Centre was selected into the Excellent Cases of China-Africa Higher Education Cooperation and included as a representative project in the promotional video on China-Africa educational cooperation achievements.



To jointly advance the accelerated implementation of the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Education, strengthening digital education exchanges, conducting teacher training, and promoting the modernization of education in Africa are among the core priorities for China and Africa to expand and deepen educational cooperation. As a Category 2 UNESCO Institute, the Teacher Education Centre will build on the Tanzania project, summarize existing experiences, explore diverse cooperation models, and better serve the capacity building of teachers worldwide.
