On July 21, a delegation including Professor Nunuk Suryani, Director of the Directorate of Teachers and Educational Personnel under Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Dr. Sugito Adi Warsito, Director of the Banten Provincial Teacher Professional Development Centre, and Apriana Anggraini, Deputy Director of the centre, visited the UNESCO Teacher Education Centre (TEC). Entrusted by Professor Zhang Minxuan, Director of TEC, Professor Ning Bo, Project Director of TEC and Vice Dean of the School of Education at Shanghai Normal University, and Associate Professor Zhang Huafeng, Part-time Deputy Director of TEC, held talks and exchanges with the Indonesian delegation.

Professor Nunuk Suryani, Director of Indonesia’s Directorate of Teachers, introduced the purpose of the visit, stating that she hoped to advance the signing of a cooperation framework agreement between Indonesia’s Directorate of Teachers and TEC, focusing on teacher training across various stages and fields.
Associate Professor Zhang Huafeng extended a welcome to the Indonesian educational exchange delegation and provided an overview of TEC’s development history, responsibilities and functions, personnel composition, ongoing research and international training programs, as well as potential areas for cooperation. Professor Ningbo reviewed his multiple visits to Indonesia and the cooperative relationships already established with relevant Indonesian institutions, with a focus on introducing TEC’s programs such as training for educational officials from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative and professional development workshops for ASEAN teachers.


The two sides discussed potential cooperation projects in fields including STEM teacher training, international surveys and assessments, and digital transformation of education. The delegation from Indonesia’s Directorate of Teachers thanked TEC for its warm reception, stating that they would maintain communication with TEC, further clarify training needs upon their return, and once again invited TEC to visit Indonesia’s Directorate of Teachers. Prior to the talks, the Indonesian delegation also toured the Centre and expressed appreciation for its modern and international facilities.
