Abstract:
Exploring the roles of outstanding teachers in a gobal perspective is of great significance to the construction of China's teaching force in the new era. From the perspective of social role theory, we explore the role expectations of the Global Teacher Prize and analyze the role practices of the 60 Global Teacher Prize candidates with rooted theory coding. The analysis found that the role maps of outstanding teachers were shaped by the role expectations of the Global Teacher Prize and the role practices of outstanding teachers. There are six types of roles of excellent teachers in the global perspective: collaborators of multiple subjects, leaders of educational reform, watchdogs of educational equity, servants of peer development, shapers of global citizenship, and empowers of student development, The role definition of excellent teachers in the global perspective has the following inspirations for the cultivation of excellent teachers in the new era of China. Firstly, finding the right role and anchor the development coordinates. Secondly, clarify the role expectations and base on the role practice. Thirdly, draw on the evaluation standards and point out the direction of development. Fourth, shape the values and improve the competence quality.
