On the afternoon of June 12, 2025, our Institute held a symposium for the 2025 graduating class at Mingyuan Hall of the UNESCO Teacher Education Centre (hereinafter referred to as the Centre). Zhang Minxuan, Director of the Centre; Professor Hu Guoyong, Deputy Director; and 10 other faculty members, along with all master’s and doctoral graduates of the 2025 cohort, attended the event. The symposium was chaired by Associate Professor Song Jia, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Institute.
During the symposium, doctoral graduates first reflected on their journey of studying and researching at the Institute and the Centre, shared the joys and challenges of their doctoral studies, and put forward suggestions for the Institute’s future efforts in talent cultivation. Wang Huihui, a master’s student representative, and Cao Shengwen, an international student representative, respectively recalled their learning and growth experiences at Shanghai Normal University and the Institute, summarized what they had gained, expressed gratitude to all teachers, and extended good wishes to fellow graduates.
After the students’ speeches, each teacher present shared their experiences of communicating and collaborating with the graduates, offered sincere congratulations on their graduation, and hoped that they would stay grounded, persist in their efforts, always maintain a passion for knowledge, and continue to grow in their respective fields. In his closing remarks, Professor Zhang Minxuan took the English word Commencement (meaning both graduation ceremony and a new beginning) as an example and earnestly told the graduates: Graduation is not an end. Just as 'Commencement' signifies both a graduation ceremony and a fresh start, graduation marks a new beginning. We wish you a bright future, but the road ahead will surely be full of challenges and not all smooth sailing. May you always hold onto your sincerity for academia, love for life, and a resilient mindset as you move forward with determination.
Following the speeches, Professor Zhang Minxuan presented graduation gifts to each graduate and joined Wang Chao, a doctoral graduate representative, and Cao Shengwen, a master’s graduate representative, in cutting a cake to celebrate the graduates’ promising future and happy graduation.
