On January 31, 2024, a delegation led by Vahid Khamidov, Director of the Science and Methodology Center for Educational Development of Uzbekistan, was invited to attend Parallel Forum 6 of the World Digital Education Conference hosted by the Centre and paid a visit to the Centre. Two technical experts from the Digital Education Development Center, Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan accompanied the delegation on the visit. Jiang Mingjun, Vice President of Shanghai Normal University, and Zhang Minxuan, Director of the UNESCO Teacher Education Centre, extended a warm reception to the Uzbek delegation, and respectively introduced the basic information of the university and the Centre to them. Director Vahid Khamidov briefly outlined the general situation of educational development in Uzbekistan and the functional positioning of his center. The two sides exchanged views on issues such as expert exchanges, digital teaching materials, and cooperative research, and reached a basic consensus on signing a cooperation framework agreement.

Zhang Xianghong, Deputy Director of the University's International Exchange Office; Wu Yuedong, Deputy Director of the Education Big Data and Education Decision-Making Laboratory; and Wei Shuang, Vice Dean of the College of Information, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, expressed their views on potential cooperation areas. Hu Guoyong, Deputy Director of the Centre, and researchers in relevant fields, including Professor Huang Xingfeng, Professor Ningbo, and Associate Researcher Bian Cui, participated in the discussion.
Uzbekistan has historically been a key hub on the ancient Silk Road and an important node for the Centre in serving the development of teacher teams in Central Asian countries. In 2023, Uzbekistan sent two educational delegations to participate in the Educational Seminar for Countries Co-building the Belt and Road Initiative hosted by the Centre.
